Our Story · เรื่องราวของเรา
We opened this restaurant
for the children.
We have kept this promise since 2019 — when we opened in September and had to close in December, as the silence of a tourism-less, income-less pandemic fell over our Mai Khao community.
When we reopened in 2021, the hardship that everyone in Phuket had endured changed us. We chose to build a sharing business — a restaurant whose profits would go toward developing 120 young children at Ban Mai Khao School. In 2022, Michelin gave us the opportunity to grow.
Our model begins with a great-grandmother whose recipes have fed our family for over a century — dishes our fourth generation has grown up watching Grandma enjoy. The recipes passed on to Ama, our mother, and from her to the hands of our community, who cook them for the guests at our tables today. We source from Phuket's own communities — Andaman Vegetable from Mai Khao farmers who have revived a coastal crop into a family business; GI-certified Phuket seven-coloured lobster from the Moken sea people of Tha Chatchai and Pa Lai; and GI-certified Phuket Pineapple from growers.
Years on, our guests love the food. The community earns more. The children have a safer school — its classrooms repaired from our profits. We are grateful for the fate that brought everyone to this red table: a restaurant business that grows sustainably, together with our community and its children.
"Cook like home. Source with care. Feed with love."
